The Temple of the Sky

The Temple of the Sky is one of the few formal temples of Chiaroscuro and without a doubt its most prominent. The religions of the Delzahn is a syncretic one, encompassing the Cult of the Kha-Khan, the legendary ruler who united the tribes and is profecied to one day return; veneration of the Celestial Incarnae; and rites for a hundred lesser gods. They have even given the Immaculate Dragons a place of high honor in their pantheon (much to the dismay of Immaculate monks who wanted to convert the barbarians wholesale). Delzahn shamans and dervishes conduct their rites in a modest temple made from fire-baked brick with lovely tapestries depicting the many gods of their worship. However, by far the most pervasive cult of the average citizens visiting the Temple is that of Grandmother Bright, patron of the Plaza and believed to be city mother of Chiaroscuro. To Dynasts and Immaculates, the Temple is a symbol of Chiaroscuro’s infuriating stubbornness and refusal to assimilate to Realm culture as a good satrapy should.
